The module permits a communication between the Cognex in-sight vision sensor and a Fanuc robot control system R-J3 via standard ASCII codes of the vision sensor. The data calculated via the vision sensor are immediately transferred to the position registers of the robot control system.

For this purpose, the module disposes of its own processor for the handling of data between the robot control system R-J3 and the Cognex in-sight vision system. The converter provides the user with the handshake protocol for the Fanuc control system. ASCII strings help carry out the communication to the camera without handshake.

For communication serial interfaces and Fanuc sensor-interface software are employed. The product selection is effected via the robot control system to the protocol converter. The robot only requires “send” and “receive” commands. The conversion of the pixel data files and the rotation are carried out by the robot control system (Þ examples existing). The robot works with mere binary information.
