The module VE0006 is a system for the evaluation of luminous objects in the visible area of the light. For this purpose, colour and luminosity are evaluated independently, according to user-specific instructions. In contrast to current colour sensors, the VE0006 module does not use a reference light source but records the light emitted by the test product. Thus, the module is especially qualified for the function test or the qualitative selection of LEDs.
The module either works as a plain analogue sensor, using a serial interface, or as a simple positive / negative identification via digital I/Os. Moreover, it is possible to operate the module via both interfaces in parallel. Applied as a positive / negative identification, the module works with product-specific parameters that the user configures by means of a software tool which is part of our delivery extent. These parameters are remanently stored on the module so that 15 completely different products can be coupled and selectively tested.
A 16th product number is reserved for the automatic compensation of the surrounding light before the actual test. enabling the user to operate the product even under varying environment conditions.
| Test parameters | Colour and intensity |
| Gain Steps | 6 |
| Resolution | 12 Bit for each gain |
| Dynamic | > 90 dB |
The interconnection of the light is effected by means of light conductors with different configurations. With the standard options available, up to six test items can be coupled on a single module. Since there is only one internal sensor element available, each test of up to six test items needs to be carried out sequentially. If it is necessary to conduct a test in parallel, the modular system MELOT is disposable. Due to their small outer dimensions, the light conductors can also be used for testing LEDs that are arranged in arrays (RM 3.3 mm). Independently from the cabinet, it is possible to test either mono- or multi-colour types like duo-, full-colour or white LEDs. Moreover, customer-specific light-conductor configurations can be carried out that permit the test of seven-segment displays.
The utilisation of light conductors for the coupling of the test items permits the spatial separation of the device from the test area. Through this and the module’s small mechanical dimensions a very high flexibility can be achieved. Frequently, this also permits a later changeover or upgrading of already existing installations.
Our delivery extent includes the software tool for the parameterisation as well as a detailed description of the serial interface. The description gives details about all commands that help to collect and evaluate the pure sensor data with the user’s own software. This is often necessary to comply with higher requirements for the pursuit of products.
The electrical connection between the test processor and the module is compatible with the MELOT system.
